Hey Dave…This is Chris..Remember me. I used to browse Pace Advantage. Well not anymore..My question is..Do you ever look at the running lines of a horse? So much can be told from the running lines of a horse. With all this computer handicapping. Isn’t there little nuggets that you might miss by not reading the actual past performances? I use multicaps software along with bris pp’s. Along with a couple other things. I’ve learned so much by looking over past performance lines over and over throughout the years. Maybe your software breaks down the running lines for you. But my opinion is, a computer can’t out handicap the human eye when it comes to reading the past performance lines.
My experience would indicate a different belief than yours. The majority of winning players I know left the “eyeball scan” approach behind years ago. I know very few winning players who do not concentrate solely on numbers.
In recent years the game has become more of a financial market than a handicapping event. In order to win one must be able to translate every piece of information that is to be used into a number. While the “human eye” approach (as you called it) might see things that the computer does not, the human mind has no ability to translate what it sees into a change in a horse’s hit rate.
That is why the best handicappers on the planet continue to lose while lessor players such as me win regularly.
